Granby (Brooke's mom) came from Texas to help us out for a week. She was a washing, cleaning, cooking, tending machine! It was great to have so much help that first week. She even washed my windows and blinds! (Which may not ever get done again, at least until she comes again to help with the next baby). :) We all love Granby so much! Thanks mom!
Luke at 9 days old--isn't he handsome?
We made a "Luke sandwich" yesterday. I love seeing the size difference between all the kids.
Luke and Mom came home at 8pm last night. It was a rough first night. Dad has the flu and Emma threw up all over her bed, down the hall way and into Mom and Dad's room. We spent a good part of the night bathing Emma, vacuuming and scrubbing the carpet and washing bedding and clothes.
Luke slept through it all. He slept for nearly 7 hours straight!
When Rachel first saw baby Luke, she didn't want to have anything to do with him. She seemed to sense that he was displacing her as the baby of the family.
Yesterday, Dad took Rachel by herself to see Luke and Mom. Rachel's reaction was totally different. She hugged, cuddled and kissed Luke and couldn't get enough of him.
Luke Benjamin Bergin was born October 7, 2008 at 7am. He weighed 10 pounds even! We may have a future linebacker on our hands. He has the initials to match.
Brooke started having labor pains at 3am and looked ready to deliver the baby when we arrived at the hospital at 4am. We were scheduled to go in at 7am today when they were going to break Brooke's water to induce labor. We are thrilled that Luke was born without the need to induce labor and without a c-section as was necessary with Rachel.
Luke's Great Grandma and Grandpa Brown visited this morning. Luke definitely has some Brown facial features. But his thick, dark hair looks Bergin or McAfee all the way. And he got his Dad's dimples!
Many thanks to Aunt Lisa who came over to our house at 4am to tend our girls. Emma and Rachel visited Mom and baby this morning and then enjoyed lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Bergin and Patrick.
Last night we headed up the canyon to check out the autumn leaves. It's one of my favorite activities. The girls had a blast, collecting leaves for our fall collage and exploring the river (Rachel's favorite). We got some cute pictures!
Rachel had a birthday--shout HOORAY! We met at a local park to celebrate with family and friends. It was tons of fun!
Daddy's shades look much cooler on Rachel--don't you think?
Great-grandma Brown's big gift--a Little People house. Rachel loves it--thanks Grandma! And special thanks to Uncle Dave, who scoured the Internet looking for this toy. You're the best!

We love Grandma Bergin
I made a shoe cake which did not turn out too well, but nobody gave me TOO much of a hard time about it (well, except for Uncle Dave). :) Rachel will never remember anyway, right? It was a fun night.
