July!

July started out at the Colonial Festival over the Fourth of July weekend.  I had been wanting to take the kids to this for years and we finally went.  We loved it!  Despite the 100-degree temperatures and the super-loud cannons being shot off occasionally, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learned quite a bit.  I think it is so important to teach kids about history and different ways of living.
Emma was naughty....and ended up in the stocks.
The younger 3 liked dressing up in period clothing.

Emma, especially, loved learning about colonial life.  She is very interested in history.
Max trying his hand at carding wool.
Rachel attending a session of "school."  Love that bonnet!
The Fourth of July!  We love spending it with the Familias. Swimming and snow cones with friends was fun.
 The tweens hammocking.
The pre-fireworks entertainment--Despicable Me.  Bill is the best!
Max has the best seat in the house!
Bill helped all of the kids do the scooter-smoke bombs.
After the Fourth, Ben had a birthday!  He wanted to go up the canyon to celebrate so that is what we did. We made some yummy foil dinner combos and even cooked a cherry cobbler over the fire!  Sadly, the cobbler got burned and is not worthy of a picture.
 Fishing with his little buddy.
 We love the canyon!
A little outside storytime one evening.
We had a graduation party for Courtney at a Lehi park.  We played lots of funny minute-to-win-it games and fun was had by all.  We laughed a lot!
We had a ward summer BBQ party and all the kids rode their bikes in a little parade around the neighborhood.
 Look what dad can do!
Most of our Saturday mornings in June and July were spent apart: me with Emma at a swim meet and dad with the other kids at home.  Sometimes dad and kids had little adventures--here is one up in the mountains. Cute kiddos!
