Sweet

I tucked the girls in tonight and then went outside to get Luke (who was with Ben) to put him to bed. When I opened the door to the backyard I saw this....and my heart melted.

Look at him all tucked up like a little potato bug, clutching that big white spoon (it's his favorite). And Ben was just patting and rubbing his back so sweetly. Man, I am such a softie! I guess babies do that to you.

Impromptu Photo Shoot

We were hanging out in the backyard tonight and I realized I don't have any recent pictures of me and Luke together. So alas, an impromptu photo shoot was declared. Oh, how I love this baby boy! Those big brown eyes, the mop of hair, those two cute teeth, and those dimples! Those future girlfriends are going to have to answer to me first.....

Music

I got to get out last night and see Jim Brickman at the Scera Shell. It was supposed to be a romantic date with Ben, but Ben was sick yesterday and so I took my brother Cameron. He was a good sport to go with me even though we were surrounded by couples holding hands and snuggling. We had to laugh about that. The music was wonderful! I just love music so much, especially good piano music. It was a great night and reminded me I need to play the piano more (besides kids' music and church music). I have a whole case full of music that I have sorely neglected since my family has grown. I am eager to start playing more--I miss it!

Strawberry Days

We hit up the Strawberry Days carnival tonight. Emma, Luke, and I had fun, but Rachel (who refused to go on ANY rides--including the merry-go-round) and Ben (who is not a fan of carnivals) would have liked to just stay home. So I didn't get that many pictures since it was just Emma and I going on the rides. But...we are headed to Lagoon on Friday and that is sure to bring many more pictures (hopefully we can convince Rachel that rides really are fun).

Emma got to go on a ride with her buddies, Lauren and Kaitlyn.

Knees were weak, butterflies in the tummy, and a little light-headed--and no, it wasn't Emma who experienced all those symptoms, it was ME. I'm very afraid of heights, but who can pass up a Ferris Wheel? It was pretty thrilling to ride it, even if I was scared to death. It was especially fun to ride it with Emma, who found it amazing.

Luke's first time on a carousel. When I first put him on the horse, he was laughing, sticking his tongue way out (his signature excited move), and grabbing the pole. So adorable.

We introduced Rachel to cotton candy tonight. We tore off a wad and handed it to her and she pushed it away. I guess cotton candy is not the most visually appealing treat. Then because Emma was chowing down on it, Rachel decided to give it a try. Yum, yum.

The Bergins' Strawberry Days

Forget about Pleasant Grove's Strawberry Days--we've got our own right in our backyard. This is the first year we've gotten a BUNCH of strawberries in our garden. And, boy, are we lovin' it. These babies put grocery store berries to shame. Some of the many little girls in our neighborhood also discovered our strawberries and they had a feast of them this afternoon. Nothing like sweet summer strawberries.

That bowl of berries was gone in about 60 seconds flat.

Oh boy!

Luke is on the verge of crawling. He loves doing baby push-ups and rocking on his hands and knees. It's so thrilling to watch! I had to bribe my girls to get moving, and he just naturally wants to! I'm thinking he'll be off within the next few weeks. Baby-proofing, here we come....

Fireman's Breakfast

We went to the Annual Fireman's Breakfast on Saturday morning. It was really fun! The long wait in line wasn't very fun, but at least we got to see the inside of the fire station (and the very cool fire chief's office) while we waited. I couldn't believe how many people were there! I'm sure they raised a boatload of money. The food was yummy--gotta love fried ham, fried eggs, fried hash browns, and fried pancakes. Mmmmm. I wasn't hungry again until about 4:00 in the afternoon. The best part about the whole thing, though, was getting to explore the fire truck after breakfast. The girls loved it. I especially like the picture of Rachel hugging the fire extinguisher. That kid cracks me up!

Luke just hung out in the stroller the whole time. He was loving watching all the people. Doesn't he look cute in his ball cap?

I think we might make this a tradition.
